about me . . .

beware of incomprehensible rambles

Growing up with the web and social media has no doubt influenced a lot of my personal development and my outlook on the world. And it’s very much still shaping me as a person today. When you are privy to the words and lives of so many people via a simple screen you can’t help but let at least a little bit of the virtual world seep into your life and mold your mind. I guess therefore one of the things I’ve always been very drawn to online are mediums of self-expression and things that reflect or represent ourselves. And this website is a vague attempt at just that. Obviously people are much more than the few words, sounds and images we perceive but they are the best tangible and (more or less) permanent tools to capture an idea of a person.

i like the concept that, to quote clive barker, "[...] in words we may preserve ideas and images precious to us. Not only preserve them, but pass them on. To dream in isolation can be properly splendid to be sure; but to dream in company seems to me infinitely preferable."

this website is a forever incomplete impression of me, of my life and my thoughts. it's an invitation to dream together if you will, meant to be viewed by someone and maybe even inspire them to make a site themselves.

I’m very impressionable and the things that occupy my mind are always changing but at the moment it’s mainly been storytelling and art that I'm into when I'm not working. I admire the ability to put together different expressive tools to evoke feelings and emotions, be it in drawings, books, music, films or games. I really hope someday i can turn my passion for these into a deeper project or even an occupation.

Especially games end up making me feel very strongly. I gravitate toward videogames with narrative themes around suffering (that are often by extent at their core about love) and stylized visuals. fromsoftware has left a big impact on me and the things I want to create, especially dark souls and bloodborne. environmental and indirect storytelling only made possible by deeper exploration are aspects that i think nothing can immersively portray as well as videogames. i love the creative freedom in game development and how many different creative tools you have at your disposal to express ideas.
Hideo Kojima is also a huge inspiration when it comes to games as medium of storytelling and art, that man is doing it like no one else lol

Some other things about me are that I have a bad habit of nail-biting and terrible eyesight from staring at my screen all day. i also own a cat who's too fat for his own good (not pictured below)
